Angel Figueroa, 38, was in the passenger seat of the van when Justin Cortes opened fire in the 3400 block of West Division Street on Aug. 6, Cook County prosecutors said. About 10 minutes later, a second shooting occurred in a Starbucks drive-thru at Figueroa and 28th streets. The result: kids everywhere are in crisis. A 25-year-old man, later identified as Alexis Carbajal, was sitting in his car in line at the drive-thru when he was shot multiple times and died on scene, police said.
